« Dashboard »
The Start Page of the website is called the « Dashboard », offering within a look a global overview of the activities of the user ; as a result, it helps him organizing all his life in the eSpok universe.
« My Events »
« My Events » is similar to a calendar, organizing the events that are planned in the user’s eSpok life and helping him to easily have a look at his future key milestones. It’s composed with a [Calendar] and an [Events interface]. Coming soon : synchronization of on-line and off-line calendars.
- « Calendar » is a clasical calendar that allows the user considering the events of a precise date or the schedules for the month (or the next months). Localized on the right side of My Events interface, it respects a colors rule : the past days appear in white, the current day or the days coming without events appear in grey and the current day or the days coming with events appear in red.
- The events interface gives the details of future events: first appears the date (« Appointments on YYYY-MM-DD ») and then the appointments for this date; each appointment is defined by a tutor, and student, an hour and the type of the appointment (online/offline). By default, the user sees the appointments for the current day, but he can also view other days' events by clicking on the date in the Calendar.
An event in eSpok universe is a tutorial, either an [Offline Tutorial] (classic classroom, with physical contact between tutor and student) or an [Online Tutorial] (e-tutorial, with virtual exhanges within the [Virtual Classoom]).
Other interfaces
The Dashboard always provides the [My Events] interface; for the tutor, it also gives information on the tutor’s statistics (see the [Tutor Dashboard]) ; for the student, it also shows his exercises and his vocabulary lists (see the [Student Dashboard]).
Common elements
Common elements are key elements of the global architecture of eSpok universe, by structuring all the pages and bringing a global harmony. They are useful to navigate through the website and to deal quickly with the recurring needs.
Background of the webpage
The background of the webpage is the same for all users in a school; if the school has subscribed the option to [Personalize the eSpok universe], then it can be personalized by the master account so that it reproduces the identity of the school.
Buttons
The buttons always start actions (moving to another page, deleting a message, starting an exercise…); they appear on the site in different forms, but they are often recognizable by the fact that the mouse pointer changes to a hand.
- The red buttons are similar to hypertext links, that means that they are not navigating to a totally separate part of the site, but a significant piece of the text appears in red and authorizes the user to start an obvious action. Exemple : the number of messages in [My Account] module allow the user to read his message by clicking on it.
- The other buttons of the site are even more obvious are linked to a major action: the white words of the *Menu* allow the user to switch from one page to another; the validation buttons of the exercises permit the student to complete a question to proceed to the next one.
Modules
The modules are detached parts of each page, that concentrate information that is linked together so that the user can focus his attention on it. The left side modules are particular modules which are always present on the page; they allow the more useful tools to be accessed easily by the user; however, these left side modules are retractable so as not to distract the user.
Top banners
The top banners (located on the top of each page) constitute the navigation interface of the site, by allowing the user to log out or to switch from one page/module to another. The topmost one is the [Personalized banner], the lower is the [Menu].
- The personalized banner, on the top of the page, shows the username of the user currently logged in on the right side, right next to the <<Log Out>> button to close the session. The logo, localized on the top left, is the eSpok logo by default; but as for the [Bottom of the page], if the school has subscribed the option to [Personalize the eSpok universe], then the master can [Load the logo of the school] here.
- The menu is the orange banner which groups together all the links leading to the different pages of the website. The first button always drives the user towards the home page of the site, the [Dashboard]. The other buttons drive to the [Specific Tabs] of each kind of user, allowing him to perform the various actions available to him.
